Every Garment Tells a Story

Fast Facts About Textile and Food Waste in Connecticut + How Trash to Fashion Helps You Make Positive Change

Every garment tells a story that includes the design rationale, materials, how it's produced and sold and how it's worn.

What story are we wearing?

Fast fashion companies pollute air, water, and soil with toxins that cause asthma, cancer, and neurological diseases and hide their stories behind glamorous images and messages that promote FOMO.

Meanwhile, Trashion removes items from the waste stream, then turns them into garments and decor, creating a net zero or net positive impact on the environment.

Look at all the waste we produce in Connecticut alone.

EVERY YEAR…

Businesses throw out 143.6 Million pounds of textiles and

Households (you, me, and everyone we know in CT) toss 49.4 Million pounds of clothing, decor, and other textiles, plus 1.06 Billion pounds of food into the trash.
Yikes!

That's because 62% of U.S. adults want to reduce greenhouse gases but 51% don't know how.

So let's weave a new story.

With our partners Helpsy and Havens Harvest, and our in-kind sponsors, Peels & Wheels composting and Goodwill of Southern New England, Trash to Fashion can help you make that positive difference you want!

Save the Date for our first event, the Trash to Fashion Workshop & Ball! It’s Saturday, October 11th at Bregamos Community Theater in Fair Haven.

Admission is free, but advance registration is required and space is limited. Don’t miss the announcement to get tix. Subscribe Now.
